Veronica Blount was a young mom who died at age 46 from heart disease. She lived in the 2400 block of Harlem Avenue. The Veronica Blount Memorial Foundation was founded in memory of her. Our mission is to raise awareness about heart disease.
Residents living on this block will be the first to receive free blood pressure monitors. Hypertension is a leading cause of heart disease and having access to a blood pressure monitor can aide in prevention and ultimately save lives.
DETAILS
-
The giveaway will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1:00pm.
-
Only homes in the 2400 block of Harlem Ave. are eligible on 9/7/24. We have plans for larger distribution at a later date.
-
Volunteers will go door-to-door to distribute blood pressure monitors to those in need.
-
There is a limit of one monitor per household.
-
No monitors will be left on porches or with neighbors. Someone must be home to receive the monitor.
-
To be eligible, the home must be lived in and not an abandoned home.
-
No purchase necessary.
-
We reserve the right not to distribute a monitor if we feel we are in danger, the environment is unsafe, the home appears to be unoccupied, the recipient does not have access to the home or for any reason we deem necessary,
-
We will document this monumental moment with video and photos. Residents are not mandated to be recorded. Declining an interview will not impact your ability to receive a free monitor.
-
Local news media may be present. Residents are not obligated to speak to the media and should do so at their own discretion.
